By default Panorama™ NovaView® Server works properly with "LocalHost" (127.0.0.1), or the NetBIOS name of the Computer.

When connecting to the Panorama™ NovaView® Server over the internet, you may sometimes find that FQDN names are not working, in the Panorama™ NovaView® Analytics, and Panorama™ NovaView® Administrator.

FQDN name is full computer and domain name that usually looks like this: http://servername.domainname.com

Wrong configuration might cause "Not allowed" message in all Panorama Web clients.

The problem is due to a missing configuration in IIS to handle the different name requests, and may also be caused by an improperly configured DNS.

          Make sure the FQDN (Full Qualified Domain Name) has been setup properly in your Internal (LAN) and External (ISP) DNS servers.

          Preferably with the Reverse Look Up working.

          Configure IIS to listen for port 80 at the specific IP.

          Configure IIS to listen for the FQDN name also in port 80 at the specific IP example:

Then configure NovaView Administrator, and the NovaView Desktop Client to connect using the FQDN example:

Panorama web site in IIS shoud be defined with NTLM athentication. Use the following instructions (Verify authentication methods header) to set NTAuthenticationProviders property correctly (NTLM).

Advised to use the setspn utility to set a registration between the machine real and DNS name. users experience authentication issue, when real machine’s name is different than DNS name. Follow the steps under “Determine the server name header” to resolve that:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326985

Registry key “ValidServers” with Panorama server name as value should be added to ensure the correct user authentication on Panorama side:

1. Open "regedit"

2. Do to branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Panorama\NovaView 6.2\Admin

3. Right click on the right pane > New > String Value > type "ValidServers". Press Enter to add the value of the Panorama server.
