Create Panorama Database

SUMMARY

Steps to create the Panorama database

CAUSE
The database is required to store the data, cache, settings, alerts, subscriptions, and other types of NovaView related information.

See these KB articles, for a good example of what happens when the database is not working properly:
  1. - Cannot connect to Panorama DB
  2. - #Error# You are not allowed to get this information
SOLUTION

First you'll need to manually create a database in your SQL server.

The database name is not specific, so you may call it anything you like, for example: "PanoramaCache"

(Note: If you don't know how to create a SQL database, please refer to the SQL manual, for instructions on how to create a SQL database, or if not contact your SQL Administrator for assistance.)

Once you have the database created in the SQL server, we can now configure the Panorama database connection in NovaView Administrator.

Click on the Edit button.

Select "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server"

3.gif

Type in the SQL server name instead of "localhost" for example "SQL2000"

Select the database you created for Panorama, for example "PanoramaCache"

Test the SQL server connection, you should get a "Test connection succeeded" confirmation message.

Then when you are back to the NovaView server, Database setting screen.

Make sure to select the Options button, to Create Tables

After that you should get a confirmation message "Tables created successfully"

If by any reason you don't get the message above, you must go back to the SQL database, and manually Drop (delete) all the tables. It's possible you might have selected an old database that already had some incompatible tables in it.
