How To: Change the port used by Panorama Web Service

SUMMARY /SCREENSHOTS
Starting from version 6.0.2 SP1, the default TCP port to access Panorama NovaView web-clients is 4444. This is set automatically in the installation process, and is different from the default 80 port on purpose, so that other Web-based applications will not interfere with NovaView. However, you might want to change this port to a different one of your choice.
CAUSE

There are several possible reasons to do so, which relate to your organization's infrastructure. For instance, port 4444 might be blocked.

SOLUTION

First, change the port binding itself. Go to the IIS (Start -> Run -> intemgr),

  1. Go to the IIS (Start -> Run -> inetmgr)
  2. Go to Web Sites, right click on the Web Site on which Panorama is installed ("Panorama Site", by default), choose Properties.
  3. Change the value of the TCP Port in the Web Site tab to the port of your choice (hereafter referred to as XXXX).
  4. Click OK, perform IISRESET.
changing the port

The next step is to change the port in the various Panorama configuration files. Change 4444 to XXXX in all the following locations:
  1. In the registry (Start->run->regedit), the following registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Panorama\Novaview 6.2\Admin (if some of the keys are not present, that is ok and there is no need to create them. This needs to be done for the server and for any client machine that might have these keys.)
  2. IISPath
  3. NVServerPathForSchedule
  4. ServerPath
  5. Any other keys that might be set to the server's full path with the 4444 port included.
  6. Under the C:\program files\panorama\E-BI folder, in the following files:
  7. C:\Program Files\Panorama\E-BI\UDC\Bin\Config.xml, the key AdminWebServiceForServer
  8. C:\Program Files\Panorama\E-BI\Applications.xml, the key Properties, value Path
  9. Open each book in the Desktop Client, right click on the book name, and click Refresh. Then save the book.
  10. Change the URL shortcuts to access the NovaView web clients for each user. For instance, on the server, in the Start -> All Programs -> NovaView menu, you will have several files referenced from the \E-BI directory. Right-click on every Internet Shortcut file you find there, and change 4444 to XXXX.
  11. Restart the three NovaView Services.
